Associate Attorney- Worker's Compensation

Evans & Dixon is currently seeking to add a Worker's Compensation Associate Attorney to our expanding & fast paced Kansas City office. This position will require someone who is comfortable with multi-tasking and can autonomously handle a large volume of files along with meeting strict deadlines. Successful candidates should be teachable and have excellent analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities:

• Gathering evidence and medical records in support of client strategy
• Taking depositions of the claimant, witnesses, medical experts and other parties
• Conducting discovery
• Performing legal research
• Remaining current with developments in the law
• Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, opinions, and other legal documents
• Litigating cases before the workers' compensation division

Skills and Specifications:

• 0-3+ years of experience working in a law firm
• Preferred working knowledge of workers' compensation laws and procedures
• Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage and track volume caseload with multiple priorities and deadlines
• Excellent negotiation skills
• Be able to work efficiently with corporate professionals
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Education and Qualifications:

• Must be licensed and able to practice law in both Missouri & Kansas

• A law degree from an ABA accredited law school

• Prior experience in the legal field preferred, but not required
