Worker's Comp Legal Assistant

Evans & Dixon is currently seeking to add a Legal Assistant with 1-3+ years of experience to join our St. Louis Worker's Compensation team. Candidates must be responsible, have the ability to multi-task, possess the ability to organize and maintain files; have excellent technical, and interpersonal skills; have a creative and diplomatic approach to problem solving and a keen sense of organization. We are looking for self- disciplined candidates with a strong work ethic.

Gain valuable and real-world legal experience by working alongside attorneys during all phases of the litigation process, from the initiation of a case to the discovery period through trial and post-trial findings and appeals.

Responsibilities:

• Transcription of dictation
• Open and close case files
• Organize and maintain documents in a paper & electronic filing systems
• Gather and arrange evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation
• File exhibits, briefs, appeals and other legal documents with the court or opposing counsel
• Call clients, witnesses, lawyers, and outside vendors to schedule interviews, meetings, and depositions
• Submit invoices for payment to Accounts Payable

Skills and Specifications:

• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs
• Ability to learn various software applications
• Must be detail oriented & have the ability to multi-task

Education and Qualifications:

• 1-3+ years of legal experience
• Familiar with legal/medical terminology
• Prior Worker's Comp experience preferred, but not required
